Hi guys,
For firms that only recruit via Vacation Scheme (think HSF, the American Firms, etc) do you know if they give out TC offers on a rolling basis (ie give some to winter, spring, summer), or wait until they have had a chance to look at all their Vac Schemers in a particular year?
If you have done a MC VS, but are applying to US firms this cycle, do you really have to draw out why you would prefer a US over a MC firm in the written part of your application, or just mention it at interview?
(For context, as I am non-law I was not eligible to apply for US firms last year)
As a rule of thumb, I would say Winter Vac Schemes are going to be online, and Spring/Summer 2021 Schemes are planning to be in person, but that is Covid permitting.
For the Skadden application form, there is a box to put your 'cover letter' for Why Skadden and Why You, but it is limited to 300 words. Do you think in this instance it is okay to get rid of the formalities (Address, Dear XX, Yours Sincerely etc) and just have two paragraphs answering the...
For an application I'm doing, there is a question on interests and hobbies, and one on prizes, positions of responsibility etc.
I know you are not meant to repeat anything anywhere, but if my positions of responsibility are linked to my hobbies, would it be okay to mention them in both answers...
Hi guys,
I just submitted my application to CC for a TC. I was then sent an email saying that because I'd passed the WG the year before I was not required to retake it.
I just got my feedback report and i am in the 69th percentile of the 'Clifford Chance Norm Group'.
I was wondering whether you...
yeah it returns you to the normal Freshfields application page instead of the graduate one.
Just leave that page it re directs you to and go to the graduate one (through clicking apply now etc)
Hi guys - for Firms that use a traditional CV/Cover Letter format for their applications (thinking Slaughter and May) - do you think the CV should be laid out in bullet point form (concise but perhaps lacks detail) or in paragraph; continuous prose form (detailed but might lose clarity)
Thanks
I agree with all that has been said above. On another note, when looking through the application form there doesn't seem to be anywhere to talk about 'Why CC?'. Am I just missing something, or do they only ask those sort of questions at interview? Thanks :)
With A&O and other firms it will be 90 places in total - but not everyone on the Vac Scheme will get a TC offer and not everyone that does get an offer will accept it so probably 30-40 Vac Schemers will accept a TC after the Vac Scheme - so around 50-60 will come from the direct application
On another note, do you think firms that running virtual schemes this summer will have higher conversion rates than normal (and recruit less from the TC)?
I ask because there simply aren’t as many areas to assess (listening to talks on Zoom is not the same as doing real work).
Interested to...
At the end of a lot of Vac Schemes, virtual or not, there is a TC conversion interview. I was just wondering how and if the format, structure, questions asked etc differed from a Vac Scheme or normal TC interview? Thanks :)
Oh fair - I was just passing on what i saw on there but they were definitely talking about HSF - maybe they are taking a more personalised approach, a bit like what HL did...
Congrats on the interview!
I saw on the Student Room that they had offered those doing non-law places on the winter scheme instead...
Slightly strange decision to only offer the virtual scheme to those that get a TC - surely the opportunity to have more 'data points' or interactions with candidates before offering them...
