Hey Armiie,
Law Firms are really looking to diversify the type of candidate they hire, both in terms of uni and also subjects studied, so I think you will be fine!
In terms of overseas opportunities, this website is a really good resource, and you can look at the Firms that have offices in X...
For questions such as 'What important rewards do you expect in your career at X'; 'What do you hope to get out of a career at X' is anyone able to give any pointers.
Obviously for lots of people it will be making partner etc, but not sure if that's personal/unique enough!
Thanks :)
Freshfields is non-rolling in one sense as they don't make offers before the deadline, but they do sometimes send people the WG before the deadline.
On their website though they say they are interviewing for the TC between March-August so I wouldn't expect anything for a while!
Does anyone know how long you have to take the Herbert Smith Freehills test after submitting your online application? Just want to time it so I am free!
Thanks
To continue with the comments about word counts above, do you think a 200 word answer for 'Why Law' is okay if the maximum word count is 250, or shall I try and add some more things. It was nearer to the limit but I have since cut it down to make it more punchy, etc.
Thanks
For the Sidley application question: In your view, which personal qualities make a successful lawyer?
Did people link this to their own skills through their experiences, or remain really factual and just describe the skills?
Thanks :)
Hi @Jaysen - I am doing the Kirkland application this autumn - they have slightly edited the transactional question so it is now: ''Why do you want to be a trainee solicitor in a transactional focused firm?''.
Do you think I can talk more generally about the nature of transactional work...
Hi Guys,
For an application I have just started is a question that reads: 'Please tell us something that not many people know about you'.
What sort of things do people think is appropriate to put here?
Thanks!
Hmm - the main types of Private Equity work relate to Buyouts, or investment fund work (venture capital etc) - could they be referring to the sectors of private equity investment they work with (ie tech companies)?
Yep I got a place on the Kirkland Open Day as well - I was meant to be on the March one that was postponed - they probably are merging the March and Autumn ones?
I did a Vac Scheme with them last summer and separated Why Me, Why Freshfields, Why Law but in other applications I merged them. I guess that's the beauty of the Personal Statement as does give you the freedom to approach it however you want!
I was having a look at Davis Polk but seems they only recruit from law students? I emailed them but no response. Is this your interpretation of the criteria/ :)
