MB has a whole raft of tests. First part is situational judgment, same kind of thing you'll have seen at links or A&O or Latham if you've done those.
Then there are some like, critical thinking and analytical tests, parts of which are similar to WG other parts I've only seen at MB.

Flipside of this ofc is that you could have good but not sterling grades, be from a working class background and have acquitted yourself well in the workforce and not be able to use this at first cut.
Some don't want to have work experience in their initial screen, on the understanding that for students (the majority of applicants) assessing work experience will tend to reproduce generational advantages. It usually comes up later in the process.
What I've heard about Slaughters is it varies a lot by interviewer. However - if they grill you on a grade, it's not that they actually care about the grade (or you wouldn't be in interview) but that they want to see how you deal under pressure.
I think as a rule of thumb ideally within the last year but you can go back a bit further if your reasons are very good. Skadden was clearly unimpressed with my mentioning their work on RJR, chronicled in Barbarians at the Gate, in the 80s - this is definitely too far

This has been said elsewhere, but pick a time and stick to it. I had scheduled myself a time to do my first VI but woke up one morning very excitable and decided to just go for it - this was a mistake.
Idk if V&E gives a general outline of their VI but if they do, prepare even for things that...
As has been mentioned their email client sometimes apparently gets gummed up so we may just be left wondering interminably. I'm prepared to write them off if we don't hear anything by the end of the week.
