Yep just to echo what has already been said I had a similar thing with Macfarlanes and just let them know. They told me to just add it in as 'supplementary information' and that it wasn't a problem - I've got an AC with them in January! Don't worry the recruitment team will be very understanding...
So I just asked Bird & Bird's grad rec team and they said that the structure for the video interview was 4 competency and strength based questions which seems fairly reasonable. Probably worth preparing a commercial question in case though!
I think when answering you could give your reasons for why it interests you and then say 'Moreover, this story also interests me because of the potential impact it can have on law firms and on the industry in general. ...' I don't think you need to link it back to a specific firm or department...
Just been invited to do a video interview with Bird & Bird - anyone done one with this firm before? I was going to prepare the standard 'Why law?', 'Why Bird & Bird?', a few competency questions and a commercial topic... would that be sufficient or is there something else I should include? Any...
After all that I passed the HSF test! Seems I worried over nothing/prepared well for it. Now the waiting game begins...
On that note, has anyone heard back from BCLP and/or Bird and Bird? I completed their tests well over a month ago and have not heard a thing...
No, I'd definitely still apply to the rolling ones first as they will still have spots left in 99% of cases as the majority of applications come in mid-to-end of December time!
I think that you should only apply to firms where, if they offered you a TC, you would accept it without hesitation. Otherwise, if you're not going to be happy at that firm what's the point???
I think you are right. Their application page says the following:
'We expect to recruit our trainees from the pool of candidates who undertake Placement Schemes with us, so will not open separate applications for September 2021 Training Contract positions in June/July 2019. If necessary, we...
Also anyone have any tips for the HSF online test? Particularly asking those who passed it and reached the AC i.e. @Hazal @Helena but if anyone else has any hints/tips it would be much appreciated :)
I agree it's tough but the way I tell the difference between those two in your example is that 'true' is if it is explicitly mentioned in the passage; if you have to infer or think a bit laterally then I always say 'probably true' as it is not 100% certain based on the given passage.
Fair enough, I'm the exact same re the spread of firms haha. Only thing I'd say is to do the rolling schemes first for obvious reasons and if you need any help re the Macfarlanes application, feel free to give me a shout :)
