Hey @iwillbecomeats, first of all congrats in getting a telephone interview with them!
In terms of general tips for telephone interviews I would say:
Research the firm:
Before the interview, thoroughly research the firm. Understand their practice areas, culture, recent deals or cases, and any...
I agree with @Jessica Booker on this one, select the one that is more convenient to you and later you can ask them if you can be put into the other week if necessary. Law firms are pretty flexibly (usually) when it comes to moving vacation scheme offer holders to the scheme that best suits them...
Recently K&E have not been running their schemes as they directly offered TCs to everyone who applied for a vacation scheme. I am no sure as to whether they will be doing the same this year though!
Hey @taliagibson, first of all congratulations for obtaining a first round with Gibson Dunn, this is such an amazing achievement!
In terms of tips, I would recommend:
Knowing your application inside and out: the first round was mainly motivations-based and getting to know you as a person so...
Hey @Parsorandini I totally agree with @Jessica Booker, it might go against you in the application stage at least, however I would disclose, strongly emphasising the mental health issues you went through as those are a totally valid reason. It might also be seen as experiences that you learned...
If i remember correctly from last year it is a situational judgment test and it is automatic. Make sure to look at the firm's values and objectives for trainees and lawyers and utilise for your advantage once you are doing the test! However, it might have changed this year so do not quote me on...
I applied to Sullivan & Cromwell last year! What I can say is that they seem to regard grades very heavily so make sure you are in the top of your classes ranking I would say! But both are really good firms so good luck with the applications!
with Gibson Dunn it should be quick but it really depends on the cycle and who applied but in theory if you do not hear after a month and half, maybe reach out to them so they can explain what is happening. For context, I applied last year on the 20th of December and I received an interview...
it happened to me multiple times last year and it was mostly fine so I would not worry too much about it, it happens to everyone and some people might actually not even pay attention to it/not see it so do not worry and good luck with your Travers application!
Of course it is really hard to tell you which way to go as everything can happen, you could be applying today and get the offer over someone who applied in September. However, what I would do since ACs have already been offered is to apply for the spring scheme and use your energy to focus on...
This is extremely interesting to me, I have never realised the connection between Microsoft and public policy and the relationship with its competitors. As someone interested in technology, I would look more into this case so thank you so much for sharing it!
Congratulations for sending off...
thank you so much and that is so great! I did the spring vacation scheme and I had so much fun in it so I hope you get it!! Good luck with the application cycle!
here is is the link to the post I just made with some questions that might come up: https://www.thecorporatelawacademy.com/forum/threads/tcla-vacation-scheme-applications-discussion-thread-2023-24.8037/post-151491
Good luck with the video interview!
