Don’t dwell! Things rarely went as badly as you think - most people are their own harshest critic and hold themselves to much higher standards than they would anyone else.
if it did go as badly as you think there is still a benefit to this: it’s an experience to learn from and you know what not...
I believe they have a summer start date as well June or July but not September. Do you have a TC lined up already? If not I’d hold off on the LPC as most firms are moving over to the SQE - I’ve been told by a few they’d expect me to do SQE 2 even though I’m about to finish the LPC.
In terms of...
Anyone still waiting to hear from Taylor Wessing I got the artic shore invite this afternoon after applying on the deadline so they are clearly still working through the applications
This may just be conjecture on my part but I think the dominance of oxbridge may in part also be due to self-selection out of the process by many students that went to lower ranked / non-RG institutions. I myself went non-RG for undergraduate and many undergraduate friends just won’t even apply...
"Who can apply for a place on the vacation scheme?
You must be a penultimate/final-year law student, a final-year non-law student, or have already graduated with a law or non-law degree."
Depends on your current stage, if you haven't yet reached the final year of a non-law degree or graduated...
This is because non-law applicants still do the PGDL then the SQE so it takes two years whereas law graduates just do the SQE, it says so under sponsorship in the online GR brochure 2021/22.
it isn't, it is just very very slow to load. I just managed to submit my application. Don't know why I didn't do it earlier but I always want one last chance to proof read!
Thank you! The kindness shown by everyone in this forum makes the process that little bit more bearable and makes picking myself up and starting again that little bit easier - its nice to know I'm not alone in disappointment!
Merry Christmas to me, just received a PFO after final interview after a 7 month application process - that one hurt. Just gotta drag myself through the afternoon of work then I can turn on the OOO response open a bottle of wine and start the demoralising process all over again for the Jan...
I think this would have to be a conversation you have with the firm, they may want you to do the 9 month LPC so you are in a class with the rest of your cohort.
Are there strong reasons you want to do the accelerated course as opposed to just a preference, as that may persuade the firm to...
Paralegal jobs are tough to get, some are just as competitive as TCs in terms of applicant numbers. I've personally only ever worked in house as a paralegal, both jobs secured pre-LPC and for large household recognised companies. Do you have any transferable skills to align to paralegal duties -...
I finally heard back after the interview I had nearly 3 weeks ago now - I was successful in making it to the next stage!
This is a day shadowing an associate, I know this isn’t a standard part of the process for a lot of firms so I’m struggling to work out or research how to best prepare for...
I’m still waiting to hear back from an interview I had 2.5 weeks ago, I haven’t yet heard the outcome. In the interim I have secured and started a voluntary mentoring position with a charity - should I update my application portal with the information of this or wait for the outcome of the...
How long after an interview and not hearing any news re the outcome is it appropriate to email grad recruitment asking for an update? It's now been more than a week since the interview and I haven't heard anything... In the interview I asked about outcome timelines and they said I should expect...
I had an in person interview a few days ago and it ended with a handshake. Felt very odd after a year+ of avoiding social contact! I took the approach of what the interviewer was comfortable with so waited for them to initiate it.
I also work full-time, and have a second part-time job and study the LPC part-time - even the easy apps need some level of research, and definitely if you get past the initial app stage. Instead of focusing on easy applications I focus my applications, doing fewer apps, focusing on quality over...
Leave them blank. If you haven't even applied for a course there is nothing for you to put there. Firms are aware of how long it takes to do these courses and would sponsor/put you on their cohort when you accept an offer.
Apply anyway! Pretty sure the roles I have asked for more experience than I actually have, I know my previous role certainly did, it asked for 2+ years paralegal experience and I had no paralegal experience and only 2 months as a legal intern.
I understand the frustration, I've been there...
