Hey Aditya,
To your question at the end of your post: I do not think there is a way to predict the future of markets. A lot of commentators try, but at the end of the day there is no crystal ball I am aware of that let us make any prediction with much certainty. To ask if there is a recovery on...
You know more than I do about this! You're definitely right that the risk that this becomes a political football is almost certainly a conversation that senior lawyers advising on oil & gas and projects are having with clients and their colleagues in regulatory.
I would be curious to see how a...
Hey Alex,
I think you raise some good points.
I suspect you're right that environmental campaign groups will see how they can challenge the government's decision. However, it is not readily apparent to me on what grounds they may do so... Are there express restrictions on the ability of the...

Hello there!
Some tips to develop your commercial awareness:
TCLA publishes a weekly newsletter that covers at least two news topics relevant to law firms. When selecting these topics, at least one will be focused on some aspect of law firms as a business (which you can think of as an...
Hey Asil,
I saw the headline but have not yet read the article, though I think it is a great topic to raise.
Fitch, together with S&P and Moody, are known as the big three credit rating agencies. Their role in the financial markets is to review the creditworthiness of both large businesses...
On the shipping side: HFW and Stephenson Harwood, as well as Reed Smith due to the legacy of Warner Cranston, which Reed Smith acquired in 2001. Clyde & Co is a legacy shipping/maritime firm but has moved more towards pure insurance work (there is a lot of overlap with shipping and insurance)...

I am not sure what right you have request a remark but it is always worth trying. I will say that in my experience, both BPP and ULaw are quite intransigent about reevaluating academic marks and academic appeals. But it won't hurt to try!
Your points raise some philosophical and existential questions. Assuming you intend to workshop this for an application/interview question, I would suggest distilling these ideas down, because it is quite a lot of content to cover in ~250 words or a couple of minutes.
A few thoughts:
While...

That's an approach taken by certain US firms operating in London. Simpson Thacher comes to mind. Keeps costs down because recruiting trainees requires an entire sub-department.
Hi Asil,
A fascinating topic. I will go away and do some research.
I will say that my understanding of the general premise behind the acquisition of a musician's catalogue by private equity firms is that they are a steady source of earnings uncorrelated from market trends. The reasoning...
Again, I think you're placing a lot of self-value on outcomes that are out of your control. This TC game is a crapshoot. Graduate recruitment favours certain profiles over others. It does not mean that your capacity to excel as a lawyer is defined by these narrow metrics. You just need to play...
A few thoughts:
1. You're putting too much emphasis on your age/benchmarking yourself relative to others. I did not get an offer until I was 28 and following at least three cycles myself where I had absolutely zero traction. I have colleagues that are older than me that are starting the TC with...
