@Jessica Booker I was hoping you or someone that knows about this could help out. I've been offered 2 VS with large firms, but they're both at the same time. I've already signed my contract with Firm 1 (their offer came 1 month before Firm 2) and they only do one VS a year. Firm 2 is an access...
A little off topic but for paralegal and other professional positions, is it worth including non-law jobs you've done on your CV or will it seems less professional? I don't mean for vacation schemes but specifically for legal positions
For those that have taken Clyde & Co's cappfinity online video assessment, what kind of questions did you get, how many etc.? And do you just get 2 minutes after reading the question to prepare or do you get unlimited prep time before recording an answer? Website not clear on this
Hi guys, would anyone know the most recent vacation scheme/TC application questions for the following firms please: Clyde & Co, HFW, Osborne Clarke, DLA Piper and Gowling WLG? Thanks!
Thank you for the reply 😄Just a few follow up questions if you don't mind. What kind of specifics should I include? And how woudl I structure this part given there might be several events, or should I pick 2-3 and briefly say what I learned/enjoyed from each? Thank you!
Could I please get some insight into answering this question @Jessica Booker : "Please provide us with more details of your achievements, scholarships, positions of responsibility, insight schemes, open days and virtual work experience opportunities, extra-curricular activities and everything...
Thank you for your input @AvniD 😄 When you say the answer to the 1st question can be more generic, do you mean in the sense that it can simply be listing facts about the firm like it has X amount of offices, ranked Tier 1 in XYZ etc? I'm hesitant in my answer because it almost feels too simple...
I'm unsure how to answer these two questions and would be grateful for some insight please @Jessica Booker | 2000 character limit per question.
1) From your research, what have you learned about Fieldfisher?
- Should I pick 2-3 points (practice areas, training, etc. almost like a "why the firm"...
Yeah the Insight was limited spaces. Part of me is wondering if they just selected the "better" candidates for the 1st insight evening and I'm the left overs, especially after attending 🤣 Without being rude, I'm sure they must've had good apps since they were invited, but some people didn't even...
I definitely understand and relate to the frustration, mainly because of the confusion all of this creates. It's not at all being entitled, so I get that.
In a similar position, I've pretty much attended every single one of their events + Insight evening + independent networking etc. Again...
I often wonder the same, I didn't get into the 1st insight evening and the reason was the same: "didn't score high enough", but the application was basic with just a short cover letter (and maybe undergrad academics, can't remember). Do they just give a subjective rating out of a 100 or...
Reading 1-2 year old posts and ones from yesterday, INITIALLY led me to believe that Skadden go through applications in order of submission date and send out a TI invite asap/as they review them, but leave the unsuccesfull candidates for later and send PFOs in bulk when they can. I thought this...
Thanks for the reply @Jessica Booker. I should've mentioned that I've been already accepted for the insight evening. Also, the event is on the 13th, not 9th, I've corrected the post. I was mainly wondering, since the VS deadline is a week before the insight evening, doesn't that kind of make the...
Happy New-Year, Merry Xmas and happy holidays to everyone! 😁
I wanted to get opinion/thoughts on Ashurst Insight Evening, please. To be considered, you had to attend at least 3 of their "Mini-Series" events and then make an application for the insight evening. Due to several issues the event...
@Jessica Booker thank you for clarifying that! Just as a quick follow up, if there is no option to format and I write in full paragraphs, should I aim to fill the whole 250 words or should I keep it shorter, maybe around 100 or 150 words per job?
Would really appreciate an opinion on this question: If a vac scheme application has a separate work experience section with 250 words per section, is it better to write a full paragraph or condense the 250 words into bullet points with full sentences? The idea being to keep the reader engaged...
Directly from Kirsten Davies (Recruitment Manager at S&C): "Candidates should write a punchy letter of motivation, no more than one side of A4"
Hope that helps!
