The Legal Society aims to kickstart your legal career by providing a mix of academic, employability, and social events throughout the year. With around 350 members, the Legal Society is both the largest law society and biggest academic society on campus. We welcome both law and non-law students who have an interest in pursuing a career in the legal world.

A legal career is notoriously competitive; therefore, our academic events aim to provide our members the opportunity to gain numerous transferrable skills and enhance their CV. Our major academic events include the Human Rights Series – a collection of events with various academics and guest speakers discussing current affairs – and the annual Negotiations Competition.

Our focus on providing skill-building opportunities for our members will be complemented by a range of employability events. Our Legal Connections Evening in November creates a platform for students to network with representatives from multinational law firms, chambers. Also, we will be holding a series of “Know-how” skill building events on multiple topics such as landing a training contract and composing the perfect CV. Lastly, we will be holding panel talks with guest speakers discussing diversity and pro bono work.

Our social events are a great way for our members to meet new people and create friendships that will last a lifetime. Our social calendar will include bar crawls, themed socials, and a Europe trip in January. We are also excited to be hosting the highly anticipated Law Ball in June after 18 months of COVID lockdown!

We encourage absolutely everyone to join us! To ensure you never miss out on an upcoming event, follow us on our Instagram @livlegalsoc . Lastly, check out our linktr.ee/legalsoc to find our event calendar and a look into some of our sponsors.
