Hi,

My name is Mahak and I am a penultimate year student in a law college in India. I am someone who is interested in IP and Media laws. Any advice as to what firms would be the best suitable for my profile as in any firm that accepts international students as well as has a good IP/media team.

Thanks:)

Vacation schemes for international students studying outside of the UK can be very difficult because of the work permit process in the UK.

You may want to look at firms that run specific Indian law school recruitment processes (although many of these are not IP/Media law specialist firms, they are typically large-scale, full-service international firms).

Alternatively, you may want to look into applying for this visa at some point to give you the right to work in the UK for up to two years - Youth Mobility Visa Scheme 2022 for Indians - UK Opens its doors to Young Indian citizens - Jskilz Visas

Hi Mahak! I'd recommend going through rankings to get an idea of the firms that work in these spaces. The list are obviously not exhaustive but they're a good starting point for your research. You can see the IP rankings here and media rankings here.

As for whether they accept international applicants, I'd recommend researching this on their website to see if they sponsor visas and if no information is listed, then to reach out to the firm's graduate recruitment team.

Let me know how you get on!

Hi Jessica,

I did check this out but there are certain requirements for this which I do not fulfil at the moment such as:
  • Academic Qualification: Must have a diploma/degree with at least 3 years higher education corresponding to the qualification required for the employment on offer/ 3 years work experience
  • Should have 3 years of professional experience
