Hi All,

With the current situation looking like it won't get any better until at least mid next year, how will we be able to meet staff, network, or engage with firms?

Now it will be difficult to name drop, or just generally be able to substantiate your interest in the firms that you apply to - what will be the best way of getting around this issue?

Name dropping was never a good idea anyway ;)

There are lots of plans for virtual events where you will still get to meet people. You can still connect with people online - use your university alumni networks and other connections you may have to track down people who might be good to speak to.

I agree with Jess, there will be plenty of webinars and online opportunities I should think. To get the best out of them, have questions to ask! Also- leverage LinkedIn. People are often open to having a chat/virtual coffee if they can. A quick note on that though, if you send a LinkedIn message asking for a chat or virtual coffee, be really succinct and direct and when it comes to the chat, ask well directed questions which you can’t find online.

Agree with Alice - also explain why you are specifically connecting with them. Sometimes connections can just feel like a bit of a scattergun approach - people tend to take them more seriously when they understand why you are particularly connecting with them over other people you could connect with
