thinking of setting up a swiss ag – is it worth it

I’m exploring the idea of setting up a Swiss AG but struggling to determine whether it’s the right choice. The structure seems appealing—limited liability, strong international reputation, and the ability to issue shares—but the initial capital requirement of CHF 100,000 (with at least 50% paid upfront) is a big commitment. I’m also concerned about the ongoing regulatory burden, particularly the mandatory auditing rules for larger companies.

Another issue is taxation. Switzerland has competitive corporate tax rates, but they vary significantly by canton. Would incorporating in a low-tax jurisdiction like Zug offset the high setup costs? And how complex is the process for a non-resident? Some resources, like this one https://swisscompanyformation.com/a...-to-establishing-a-swiss-joint-stock-company/, outline the general steps, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has gone through it firsthand.

If you've structured a business in Switzerland, did the AG status provide tangible benefits in securing investors or operating internationally? Or would a GmbH have been a more practical choice? Any insights would be really helpful.
