Some tricky questions in the application I'm struggling with:

How would you define creativity within the legal sphere? (250 words max)*

We look for the kind of initiative that puts us ahead of the curve, so that we can work with clients at the peak of innovation. What will drive you to succeed at Taylor Wessing? (250 words max)*

I found these tricky as well. I tackled the first one by broadly defining what creativity in the legal sphere meant to me, then used specific examples of its application. The second one, I highlighted skills and experiences that I believe differentiates me from other candidates, then tied these to how Taylor would give the opportunity to strengthen them.

Bumping this thread as I'm having a bit of a debate about this question:

Taylor Wessing is committed to providing you with the experience and training to help you develop the exceptional legal skills that are essential for a lawyer. However being a high performance firm requires more than just legal skills. What other key attributes do you think our lawyers need to possess to ensure we are a world class law firm? (250 words max)

I've answered it by listing skills which are important, giving examples of practical situations where they would be used. However, I'm considering going one step further and giving each an example of how I've demonstrated this skill. Thoughts?

I think some recruiters are impressed by this, I remember one firm saying so (possibly Macfarlanes). But I know others advocate that you stick to the question and save your word count. Essentially, I would see what I could do with the word count.

Having said that though, if you read into the question further, you can see that the firm understands it will need to train its new recruits in legal skills. Therefore, other key attributes will also need to be fostered. Therefore, I don't think you're necessarily expected to have them yet. So, after all that, I'd say conserve your word count for simply delving into two or three attributes and don't bring your own experience into account.

I'm one of those advocates of sticking to the question. To me, if you start giving examples of how you demonstrated those skills, you show that you haven't read the question properly. I don't know TW's POV on this though and in the TW applications I've reviewed I've seen some students do both.

If I recall - doesn't TW already ask a similar question about your skills? (Although in the context of work experience?)
