Hi all, I am currently writing an application for a sports law firm VS. The application has a question as follows: "What do you see as the biggest legal issue currently facing sport?"

I have done some initial research and come up with issues relating to European sports governance, disputes around player image rights and data, regulating gambling in sports and esports and Fifa's re-regulation of agents.

I would be most grateful if anyone had any thoughts on these issues or any suggestions to focus my research on other areas in sports law.

As always appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks,
Ed

@Jessica Booker @Alice G @Jaysen @Jacob Miller, Grateful if you had any thoughts on the above or could recommend any good resources to answer such a question. I also wanted to ask if you thought the question doesn't have a wrong answer (within sports law of course) and is more about my reasoning for the X issue I picked.
There won’t be a “right” answer.

There are bound to be a range of issues that could be picked up - and I suspect they may even vary between sports/countries etc. I am by no means a sports law expert (last firm who I worked for who specialised in it, I stopped working for in 2005!) so my advice might be off a bit, but I’d be looking at both sports and law industry publication/websites. I’d see what key firms in the market are talking about - sources like LinkedIn can be useful as people often share articles or analytical pieces - plus you can often search by key words/hashtags too which might help you find some ideas.

The most serious of the problems is the problem of criminal offenses. Crimes in sports, such as bribing athletes and referees, and influencing athletes to reduce their physical capabilities, are as inevitable an attribute of sport as cheating a customer in trade. The problems of combating crime in sports are becoming more and more relevant. The issue of combating corruption and other crimes encroaching on public order and the safety of citizens during sporting events is currently acute. But I am not a lawyer myself and am far from it. I am more interested in reviews on gambling https://wildcardcityvip.com/login. There are far fewer unpleasant situations with such cases.
