Networking via LinkedIn

If you reach out to trainees via LinkedIn and they provide valuable info/speak to you over the phone, is this something you would mention in your application? Also, is there a good way of wording this without it sounding awkward or can I just say "after speaking to trainees....." ?

Hey!

I would simply say after speaking to X trainee, I... (whatever the point is).

If GR follow up with you on this point just simply say I reached out to X trainee via LinkedIn and we discussed x y z.

I would also give the trainee a heads up to say that you’re using their name in your app as I believe (correct me If I am wrong) GR check with them to confirm the accuracy of your statement?
