In M&A's, how are pension fund liabilities dealt with?

If company A acquires company B, and company B currently has a pension-fund-trust situation in place for its employees, will all these liabilities usually transfer to company A?

    Put simply, if the purchase is a 100% share purchase then yes. If an asset purchase then possibly not
