I started a paralegal role in March this year and to my surprise, I was offered a TC somewhere else to start in 2024. I want to leave my current role but I don't know what to do as it's my first 'actual' job. My current supervisor is mentoring me to secure a TC at the firm I currently am at, so I am scared to break the news!
HELP!
Check your contract for what your notice period is, and hand in your resignation at how many days/weeks/months that period is before you need to leave.
Ask for a meeting with your supervisor/line manager and explain you will be resigning. Then follow up with an email so they have something in writing that you will be leaving.
This sounds harsh, but people resigning happens all the time, it won’t be a big deal to them. I am sure your line manager will be disappointed, but ultimately if they are mentoring you to help you secure a TC, they are ultimately going to be pleased that’s what you have achieved. I really wouldn’t worry about it.
