I click insert Bookmark that is at the bottom left of the post as you type it. The following box then comes up (seen attached screenshot) and then I click search and all my bookmarks are shown in reverse chronological order (most recent bookmark first).

I then click "link to these messages" rather than quote.

Not sure if the difference you see is in how you set up the Bookmarks though... might be (I don't put much thought into that) down to the options you have when you set up a bookmark though.
