How far back in the past can we give examples from in competency-based interviews, e.g. if I was in the last year of my degree, could I give an example from sixth form, for example?

Tell us about a situation where you have demonstrated initiative and the result? - in a question on application like this where there it is limited to 300 words, is it worth briefly putting a sentence in about something I could have done differently and why?
If a firm's open day question asks you what you want to learn from the open day but is just 100 words, is it best to purely focus on things I want to learn about the firm or can I say why briefly why I am interested in a practice area I want to learn about?
If a firm has not specified in the undergraduate degree module section that you should only include modules you have completed i.e. it says to include all modules you have studied in your course, should I include modules that I am currently studying but do not have a grade for?
