Love this! The salary thing is so real, back when I was applying to firms (literally just 5 months ago lol) I always said "If it's not a six figure pay, it's not worth the time of day!"
My entire cohort for the Allen & Overy Winter Vacation Scheme were given training contract offers! There was 31 of us, it's actually insane but I'm so glad I did this scheme. For anyone who has upcoming Summer vacation scheme at A&O, feel free to reach out for tips!
*Also, for anyone thinking...
Hey just checking: does the Linklaters WG have to be done before the deadline too or is the CAPP enough? And for the 14th is the deadline in an hour or tomorrow night?
I completely agree with this and more so at A&O! They care about personality so much that they gave us no tests throughout the entire WVS. They were entirely focused on group activities and socials to see how we interact with one another. At another firm (US probs cos only 4-6 trainees) they may...
Hi is anyone familiar with Freshfields' 8 seat system? I'm just wondering how helpful it is for feeling like you have actually learned new skills in a seat given that it is so short and if the short seat time would limit me if I moved to another firm in the future.
For anyone doing the Allen & Overy assessment centre:
I have just found out from the recruiters that they have enough offers for everyone who gets a WVS to have a TC and for the past 5 years, there has been a 100% retention from WVS and there are no more assessments/ interviews after the AC to...
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that! But you have to remember, like you said, it's a very competitive and over-saturated industry with everyone from Oxford uni first class holders to career changers from top global companies - therefore, rejection is to be expected.
And, tbf as far as other...
Hey thank you so much! They called me and I received the email just under 2 hours later. Like the other comment said, I'm sure they will email you if they cannot call you since they called me at 4pm and I could have been in class/ in the cinema or something and missed the call.
They are notorious for taking years to respond and for not even giving feedback even if you do the AC (I speak from personal experience just this summer )
*No hate towards the firm because I get firms are busy, but I know people who were left waiting till a week before both the winter...
Out of curiosity, does anyone know why Clifford Chance and Slaughter and May don't do vacation schemes? Like isn't it a bit presumptuous on their part to think people will want to work there for their TC without even spending a week in the firm first?
Thank you! Honestly, I think you should be optimistic. I found out through a phone call at 4:45 just as I was about to take a nap. You never know and I wish you all the best!
WINTER VACATION SCHEME OFFER!!!!!!! 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳
I just got the call and I am still shaking! I did the test last Wednesday at 1:15pm (although I was on holiday in America so it was actually 8:15 am for me) and I am so surprised they responded this quickly.
I wish...
