I have a direct TC offer from Freshfields, which I plan to accept! I will be turning down my VS at W&C (moved to spring) and HSF (winter), so there may be spots for two people on those schemes. Good luck to everyone, and please feel free to PM me if you have questions.
This was a very interesting read. Thank you for sharing. "I’ve seen [partners] throw things at trainees." I am genuinely nervous for anyone with a snowflake mentality entering this profession. I don't think anything justifies partners treating their juniors this way, but the harsh reality is...
First of all, I'm sorry to hear that. I echo what @B2025 said about merely being invited to AC being a huge accomplishment. I also agree with your frustration about them getting back to people in a timely manner. Hang in there.
I'm not sure why people are so hard on themselves with age. I met a trainee at HL last month who was 38. He was an aerospace engineer and decided to become a commercial lawyer. I did a VS last Spring at SH, and there was a 40-year-old guy on the scheme. We all went to him for advice; he was...
I would say use your intuition. The word count on most of these application questions/CLs is intentionally very low, so you have to immediately get to the point and only write relevant things. Always ask yourself, 'Does this convey to Grad Rec why, among other things, I'm sure I want to be a...
I wouldn't use this for this question in an application. The point of this question is to test whether you know what commercial law is and, more importantly, what a commercial lawyer does. This is, as you mention, a great opener for 'why law', but tangential for why commercial law which is more...
HSF WVS offer!!! Unfortunately, the dates clash with my W&C WVS, so I am contemplating whether I should ask HSF to be moved to summer or spring, but I'll have to have some reason...Any ideas?
Mine (two online assessments, a Situational Strengths Test and a Verbal Reasoning Test) arrived three weeks after submission, and I had a week to complete them.
I agree with everything @Unknowncabbage said (especially the reason for the question- a way to demonstrate your interest and commitment to law), but I'd also add that crucially, the question does not stipulate any period such as "recent" or "within the last 12 months"; therefore, it is...
I did a direct TC app for Freshfields, and I recall seeing a space in the application for extenuating circumstances under 'contextual information.' I'm not applying to DP, but I'm sure they have the same, so it does not need to go in the CL.
I think Ques 1 is like 'tell me a weakness'. You never actually want to tell them a weakness. You also don't want to be to obvious with the usual 'I'm a perfectionist...' I will PM you with how I answered that question on my VS AC. I could tell from the GR lady that she loved it.
