Hey - you'll be given all the IT equipment you need, likely on the first day.
Took my Mac with me on the first day of VS with W&C, for example, which was unnecessary, as we were all given new, secure laptops with access to Firm IT infrastructure + headsets and a mouse.
Hope that helps!
Hey - you make a number of good points.
I hadn't considered that I was fortunate enough to come away from a VS knowing that the firm was right for me. Upon refection, it may be right to try and experience a few different firms via multiple VS', but it can be difficult to justify, on occasion...
Hey - just wanted to offer my thoughts on this. Congrats on securing a TC!
I would simply say that even if you are contractually permitted to complete a VS, or multiple schemes, after signing a TC, I would think twice before doing so. Securing a VS is a remarkable achievement, however, many...
No worries!
In my assessment, the articles were all interlinked. I offered a paragraph each on the combined issues, explanation, summary and final advice.
Don't panic! Your work is not expected to be perfect or completely mistake free, nor is it expected to be client or partner ready.
All that is required is a good effort and decent commitment to the work. If you can demonstrate you have put something fairly considered together, and you then you...
For the written exercise, it's essentially an identify, explain and summarise task.
Timed at 75 mins, I was given 4 FT articles, asked to sum up the key points, identify any key issues and then offer some general advice to a fictional client. I think this is less about black letter law, but GR...
Agreed -
I would stress the importance and distinctness of the successful 2020 strategy, and now the refreshed 2025 strategy (focusing on growth in London and NY). Would also mention W&C's blended English and US law capabilities means the firm leads in global projects, debt finance, disputes...
I have an LLM, with Merit, from a leading London university - and have secured a TC with a major US firm. Full disclosure - I did specialise in financial law, and targeted firms with the best finance and asset management practices. It was noted in both interviews I did with the firm, and gave me...
Everyone overanalyses and is very self-critical after an AC!
Please have faith in yourself - you are clearly an impressive candidate to reach an AC! Try not to overthink and relax knowing the hard part is over!
I have to agree - the interview was very relaxed and much more about getting a feel for you!
Expect some questions on the international nature of the firm and your work experience, but be prepared to show some personality and insight into your life.
I can safely say Grad Rec are v. busy collating feedback/preparing to make TC offers for those who did the WVS - such as myself. Word is those on the WVS will hear back mid week. I guess Grad Rec will focus on Spring/Summer VS applications after that!
ACs commence weeks beginning 17 and 24th Jan 2022, in person or remotely, if I remember correctly.
Is anyone else surprised that a major firm like CC chose to reopen applications for 2023?
Hey Melissa,
I feel you! Just remember it only takes one firm to say yes and you will get there! Be reflective and try to offer a refreshing insight to who you are, your interest in law and why that particular firm, in all of your apps!
Be good to yourself and take some time off! Start again...
Thank-you George - v. kind of you!
A glass of champagne was enjoyed and I am now looking forward to getting involved!
Your support is much appreciated!
Thank you George for this answer!
I'm also fortunate enough to be attending, (in person as much as possible!) and I am wondering how long after the scheme TC offers are made?
In my experience, it takes about 2 weeks! Some firms can be much faster - I think it depends largely on the number of interviews held and whether the firm operates a rolling or non rolling recruitment process.
Hope you get some good news soon!
