Interesting, it never occurred to me to just omit that section.

    2020-21 Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion

General question for anyone who went through the anglo-Canadian or American school systems - what do you include for the GCSE/A-levels sections? I put in grade 11 results for GCSE and 12 academics (I took some lower-year classes for fun in my final years and leave those out) for A-levels as this...

Good to know - out of curiosity, have you done the VI or are they still on your paper application?

    Ropes & Gray application question

I think (though I don't know) that they look at everything after the deadline. My approach has been to look at trends/issues in PE, how they relate to Ropes' current offering and what the firm might do to add value and/or increase business.

Congrats to all getting Kirkland ACs - has anyone else still heard absolutely nothing back from them?

I think if you make it clear that you know the precedent in question was established at first instance and they lost appeal on other grounds you'll be fine.

Yeah they have been sending the same generic PFO for years.

Not my wheelhouse but I'd expect that the finreg practice would be more advisory in its nature, though might still be involved in some investigations or litigation work. Worth checking the significant matters/experiences profile on the firms' pages for those practices to get a sense of what they...

As a final year int'l student you should look into the new two year graduate visas if you want to stay. Even with covid on there are decent paralegaling opportunities out there.

Coming up on 28 here, only started considering law when I was 24. I've talked to people who entered the profession in their 30s. We all have time.

I would probably approach that by using the experiences which underpin your interest in the career to demonstrate those attributes, and taking care to justify why you think those attributes are needed to excel in the field. So not necessarily explicitly linking the two, which could get a bit...

They haven't finished responding to spring VS applications, so it may still be a while for direct TC.

Very good catch - email address from their faq page is below. [email protected] Would you mind posting the answer when you find out? I thought I had to write them off as the dates on apply4law overlap with term time (int'l student) but the dates on their site are fine.

    2020-21 Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion

I wouldn't put them on a CV, but for application forms I've seen some recruiters say to include them in work experience, all under one entry if you've done more than one. This may vary firm to firm so it's worth checking with grad rec in any instance. Naturally if you're applying to a firm...

    2020-21 Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion

Correct me if I'm missing something, but as I understand it the Forage/InsideSherpa programmes produced by each of those firms are completely separate from their actual vac schemes. The Forage activities involve no application and are freely accessible to give potential applicants a flavour of...

    2020-21 Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion

I think there are certain formalities that are standard for cover letters and 'kind regards' is generally regarded as a more casual sign-off. I'd be surprised if it was the make-or-break in most instances, but it's less proper than it could be.

    2020-21 Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion

I've seen some people report AC invites and others reporting rejections. Some ACs have already happened. Seems like they're rolling out responses in batches and processing as they go. No clear timeframe to hear back but I'd expect by the end of the month.

I wouldn't necessarily say so. They receive a lot of applications and it's not been two weeks yet. This may be wishful thinking but I'm trying to stay positive for at least another week or two.
