Thank you! Yes, I remember grad rec saying that success on the scheme can lead to a TC :) I’ve got a TC application drafted anyways, just in case I’m not successful on the scheme so I’d recommend doing that too
Not sure whether to attack this straight away or wait a bit because we’ve got ten days to do it. It takes 5 mins but there’s no way to practice or anything so I’m a bit confused
A total of 28 applications completed this cycle for TCs, VSs, Open Days and Commercial Awareness Programmes. 6 PFOs (nowhere I wanted to work anyways) already but still. I can finally REST!
1. Introduction - introduce yourself (degrees etc) and state what scheme you are applying to.
2. Why law/commercial law.
3. Why Travers Smith - can mention cases, awards, rankings, anything unique to their firm. Would recommend choosing 3 things to write about.
4. Why you - good opportunity...
If you have been to any of that specific firm’s events, then I’d put them right at the top and would make those paragraphs the chunkiest. Would recommend mentioning dates, the type of event and what you gained from it. If you haven’t been to that firm’s events then I’d list the events you have...
I know someone who got onto a BCLP open day (scheduled for Feb 2023), found out she couldn’t attend, emailed the firm (in good time) and they saved her a place on the next open day which is taking place next month. It’s worth a shot!
