Seems like a lot is being rescheduled/cancelled. Is there any indication of the likelihood of that trend continuing with the spring vacation schemes around the corner? Or what will happen if they are indeed cancelled?

It's encouraging to hear I'm not alone in this feeling! Everyone always seems so confident. Your point about looking at it in terms of smaller parts is incredibly helpful actually and makes the two weeks seem far less daunting. Thank you! Fingers crossed for you, we should have more faith in...

Thank you for your words! Something I'm taking away is to remember to be objective and not get caught up in my own head.

    General Discussion Thread 2020-21

Is anyone able to offer any words of comfort regarding going into their first vacation scheme? It's not a bad problem to have and I am fortunate to have obtained one, but the reality of going into a firm for two weeks has hit me and triggered my imposter syndrome to an all time high...

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

I think that can depend on the firm. Some prefer you to do it with the rest of your intake whereas others aren't fussed.

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

It would certainly be harder but I don't think that should stop you, I know people who have gotten TCs without having done a vacation scheme at all. However, some sort of law related experience would be necessary I think, to show you know what you're getting into and show commitment to law.

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

I have to disagree that a blazer is completely necessary, but perhaps @Jessica Booker might be able to provide more concrete insight. I personally don't feel massively comfortable in a blazer either and being too hot in an interview would only throw me off. The sleeves on my dress cover my...

White & Case. But many firms now operate on a 'blind-CV' basis so is likely applicable to them as well.

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

Perhaps instead of focusing on the outcome of the AC, you could view it as an opportunity to improve the 'thinking on your feet' aspect that you don't feel as confident with, particularly as you are content with having DLA. I have done the AC and feel it was quite nice, in that everyone is...

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

I think blind CV just means they don't see your name, grades and uni. Not necessarily your cover letter and the answer to the questions.

That's what I'm thinking. Even if they read it beforehand, there's only so much they could remember to ask in the actual interview.

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

I think it's quite firm dependent. CMS encouraged me last year to apply again this year after I reached AC, whereas Macfarlanes said at the open day you should wait a few years if you reached AC. Jones Day, on the other hand, discouraged applying again if you reached interview unless your...

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

Is anyone able to provide some insight into the White & Case interview? In the past it seems to have been heavily based on the application form, which I wonder whether or not is still the case as the email invite states they will not have a copy the application form in front of them.
