I think it would be best to put a general term in the position section and then describe the different tasks you were given. I think that even the description should be a little bit general so that you do not confuse the reader, and then, when invited to an interview, you can go into more detail...
I think you should always describe the work experience in prose and never bullet points. I remember doing this for the Freshfields application too last year.
Hey @erin1009,
I totally agree with @Jessica Booker, the firm is probably not interested in hearing why this firm now and it might assess it during interviews or further assessments.
I would try and talk about an experience that really made you understand why you wanted to become a lawyer in...
Hey @Cynthia14,
I suggested some tips to someone who asked the same question here: https://www.thecorporatelawacademy.com/forum/threads/tcla-vacation-scheme-applications-discussion-thread-2023-24.8037/post-155771, I hope this helps you too!
Hey @NJS,
I think it depends on the question, what is the question they have asked?
I am assuming that the questions asks about your skills and professional experiences. I think that there is a chance to link your skills back to the firm. Whenever you are describing an experience, and you are...
They do have a finance seat where I am sure you have some lawyers specialising in Restructuring but there is not a specific Restructuring seat, it is within the finance seat if that makes sense. That is what I know!
I am pretty sure they do but they open it in the summer, I have a couple of friends who applied this past summer so that is how I know! Unfortunately, many firms do not sponsor visas for two weeks which is understandable even though it is not nice, especially as an international student myself!
Hey @powerpuffgirl,
I am so sorry to read how you feel and the process of applying to law firms' vacation schemes and training contract is so tedious sometimes. I genuinely feel like it is so difficult to maintain your motivation throughout this process. Additionally, I also see how comparison...
I think this is a normal rejection, they probably forgot to email you about the outcome of your application. I would say this is very normal so do not look too much into it and try to take it on the chin. I am pretty sure they just forgot to reply to some candidates, they are probably very busy...
Things I would do are:
Write a brief summary of the commercial news you have decided to talk about. Make sure you use clear and easy language as it is important to remember that more often than note graduate recruitment is reading those and as much as they might know a lot about the topic, it...
Yes, it is definitely rolling! If they like you they will keep you on hold until January and then select who they want to interview. This was my experience last year.
Congratulations for obtaining an assessment centre at DLA Piper, this is huge!
I would email WFW and ask if they can put you in the next Open Day cohort. If that is not the case, in my person opinion, an assessment centre is probably more important than an Open Day, so I would do the...
I would never say that applying to a firm is a wasted effort especially if applications are still open. You actually never know but the law firm might be waiting until the last minute to see the competition and to confirm whether the people they liked are the best or more qualified candidates...
There is no advantage in being international and applying for direct training contract, if anything it could be a bit challenging as you will need to demonstrate why you are worth the investment (since they will need to sponsor you) compared to your British national counterpart. As an...
