When I applied I listed some of them, but not all of them. Choose a criteria for this, it might be that you are applying to firms with a strong PE focus or strong tech focus, so mention those that fit this description!
Hey @jplaw1010 @Legalstalker
I totally understand the frustration but always remember that if you do not see anyone posting about getting an offer for a firm, it does not mean people did not get them, so if the scheme starts on Monday and you still have not received an answer, I would probably...
I share the same opinion as @Jessica Booker here, re-writing the answer itself might be the best course of action. Just changing some verbs and sentence structures will go a long way and potentially make the answer sound completely different. You could also shed light on the same issue, from a...
I think you can expand on things you have potentially done outside of university, whether it is a volunteering experience or a new sport and dive deeper into those. Additionally, you could also rephrase some of the sentences you have used in previous applications, this will allow you to...
It can definitely feel like they are requiring something so specific. I felt the same way last year when I was applying and I could not have any luck with magic circle firms (even though I knew I would prefer a US firm regardless). I feel like, especially as a mature student or international...
Congratulations to those of you who got the Clifford Chance video interview!! Such a huge achievement!
Here is is the link to the post I just made with some questions that might come up: https://www.thecorporatelawacademy....ns-discussion-thread-2023-24.8037/post-151491
Good luck with the video...
I think they said that you need to meet the benchmark and that is going to be a factor that is going to help them decide whether to invite people for the assessment centre. So, I am pretty sure you have to meet or surpass the benchmark.
I personally think that it can be whatever you want as long as it is interesting to a commercial setting and you can find some links to the legal sector. It does not have to be directly correlated to the core practice areas of the firm you are applying to. However, it depends on you. If you want...
I am so sorry this happened to you but it has happened to many before you too so I would not worry too much. I know it is very disappointing but law firms are used to this and are very understanding. Chances are they will give you more time to complete the assessment, so do not worry and wait...
I think so but I am not really sure if they are compulsory, but every trainee seems to do both so it might be. The free market system allows you to do multiple seat at ones so people do both to understand what they like. They might be compulsory during the training contract, however I am not...
It means that they like you but they want to compare applicants until the deadline. I was put on hold last year as well for two months before being rejected in January. So, it is good news basically, at least until you receive a definite no!
Good luck with the application!
For other firms I would say it is totally fine, however for Slaughter I would recommend just to stick to the full name since they do not use the ampersand neither.
I think that by historical figure they mean someone famous who was very well known in the past. I know someone talked about Mandela and they got the training contract so figures of that calibre I am assuming. I would not say that they are asking to talk about a family member. I hope this helps!
I think August is fine in my opinion. When I was applying I got an advice from someone that told me that 4 months back is good, 12 months is a no, so I would say the same to you too.
As someone said before in this chat, the structure Why law, why the firm and why me worked perfectly for me last year so I always recommend this structure.
In the why law section you describe how you discovered your interest for commercial law (this could be a personal anecdote followed by a...
