Hi Jessica,
On the topic of resitting modules, I resat one GCSE and one A level exam, not because I had failed but because I knew I could do better. (I went from a D to an A in one.)
Because I didn't have to resit these due to some failure, should I still mention them on applications where it...
Great!
What I’m currently doing is reading FT articles daily to keep on top of news.
Over the next few weeks I plan to try get my head around economic and political terms/theories which I think can also be tested.
Thanks Alice,
So just to clarify, you would simply put the title in but not detail anything about the event other than the date? However, if it was an open day/ insight event for the firm you are applying for, you would elaborate further?
Hi everyone,
Is anyone here taking part in the competition this year?
Thought we could share commercial awareness tips and tricks before it starts if people wanted to!
Hi guys,
I was hoping to get some clarity on this question:
Why have you chosen to become a solicitor? What relevant skills do you possess? (200 words)
Given this question is 200 words and wants me to cover why I want to become a solicitor AND what skills I possess, I have basically jumped...
I think AS events could be a good addition. They might not work for everyone but I’m sure enough people would find it beneficial.
What do others think?
Aspiring Solicitors also have a lot of events up at the moment, including ones with A&O and BCLP. I think these are due to close soon and the events take place in October.
Would you include open days/legal events as part of your answer for why commercial law? I think it gives good evidence to demonstrate where your interest stems from but I’m interested to hear what others think about!
Jaysen mentioned above that’s its not compulsory but it’s the main opportunity to link to A&O. There isn’t really anywhere else in the questions to do so.
Personally, I related it to A&O, but you could keep it to law firms generally.
Thanks Jessica. I’ve focussed a lot more on how my skills, particularly commercial awareness, are relevant to the role of a commercial solicitor of the future.
