Nope there are many reasons why they may not have got back to you, the partners may have not had a chance to discuss your performance because they've been incredibly busy working for one so try and keep positive! No news is good news :)
Doesn't look unprofessional at all and if they will allow you to be heard better and will help reduce the background noise in your house then absolutely wear them
Just to add a third option - if you can, travel! This will be the last time you have such a big amount of time off for a while so I would go and see the world and explore it as much as you can! That's the advice every lawyer I have spoken to has given me anyway... even if you worked as a...
Don't rule it out just yet! It took me 6 weeks after doing a VI with Weil before I got given the AC when others were doing ACs before me so try and stay positive if you can. No news is definitely still good news :)
I'd highly highly recommend you apply for a VS as like most US firms that have a smaller intake, they won't even look at direct TC apps unless they haven't filled up their trainee intake from the VS
In that case it would have been the generic feedback as I and @Ricky described so don't take it to heart! They're clearly missing out on a good candidate :)
I'm not sure if this is the case and you may have had a different experience but when I got rejected from BCLP a couple of years ago, they sent me the same feedback which I then realised was the same feedback that they sent to everyone - was like a generic note. No idea if that's the case for...
I did a thread/post on the Macfarlanes AC a year or two ago which hopefully you'll be able to find? No idea if the AC has changed since then but it may be helpful to you guys :)
Thanks a lot @LM!
Just as a follow-up to your response to my first question, was it easy to get your firm to sign off on your period of further study and I assume you'll be returning to your firm upon completion of your study programme? Is it common for a firm to sponsor an associate in further...
Hi @LM thanks so much for agreeing to do this thread - I know I can speak for everyone when I say reading your thoughtful responses has been really insightful!
Firstly, I wondered what made you decide to undertake further study now?
Secondly, you said that you did several vacation schemes...
Yes in my experience 99% of firms reply with a rejection at some point. The only firm that doesn't I think is Milbank but they do say that they will only be in contact to invite you to an AC
Thank you very much for your helpful and uplifting contributions to the forum over the last few months @Celestie! Enjoy your break and fingers crossed good news is on its way to you soon :)
Yeah just to add to what @Jacob Miller has said above, I'd be very surprised if you were to be asked this unless you had prior consultancy experience. A fairly common question is why law and not investment banking where the differences are a bit more obvious.
To be honest I think if I was asked...
@Jacob Miller @Jessica Booker well handled guys as ever - having seen that the forum member has deleted their comments maybe your words of wisdom have finally got through!
That's what I thought and that's what friends and lawyers I know said that they didn't think it was a big deal because I wasn't referring to anyone specifically but still, I wouldn't necessarily lead with it in an interview context haha as it just adds another potential reason to say no to you
