This is a minor stylistic point but should "open day" remain in lowercase when referring to it in a cover letter? I noticed that in an old application I put it in capitals. Would appreciate any thoughts on this.. thanks!

I was of the impression that you sign of with "Yours sincerely" when you know the name of the person you're writing to and "Yours faithfully" when you don't know the name of the recipient.
I agree. Also, if you choose to mention someone you've met at a networking event/open day, it would be good to explain why that interaction was interesting
I don’t think so, I personally wouldn’t. I see this question as another way of saying “why x firm?” it’s just a different way of phrasing...
I attended a virtual event today on HSF’s disputes practice and the grad rec said they aren’t reviewing apps on a rolling basis. This confused me a little as it says online that they do but thought I would mention this for anyone waiting!
