To add onto the incredible points already made - we had to pitch to a client as a VS assessment and something we were asked about was how the firms DEI, sustainability, etc. aligns with the client's values (and so why the firm was a great fit beyond the legal ability), so definitely something...
I don't personally know that info but it was talked about on the 2023-24 thread so might be worth a look there. I think there was also a thread elsewhere on TCLA about it :)
They do - just very few each year in the past (but take into account they only take ~18 trainees in each cohort too). They definitely prefer people do the Vacation Scheme and those who are successful with direct TC apps seem to either have not been able to do a VS or have experience in law from...
Hi everyone (especially @Jessica Booker because your insight on this would be great)! For context, I’m currently a full time MA Law (Conversion) student and have a VS offer for the summer. However, I’m currently thinking of switching to the PDGL (rather than the MA) and doing it part time...
I'm pretty sure SH don't have ACs this year for Vacation Schemes! They recruit for the VS from SJT/VIs and then you go through an AC during the VS for the training contract offer. If you apply for a direct TC though, you'll have an AC.
Apparently SH are still reviewing apps/VIs for the spring scheme that starts in 2 weeks (so those that applied for summer I would not worry that they haven’t sent anything yet)
Nothing yet! They didn’t get back by the deadline they said in a reply to my email a few weeks ago (that deadline was a week ago) and haven’t had a response to a follow up I sent yesterday yet. Somebody on a PM said they’d heard of some PFOs being sent already though I think but I haven’t seen...
It’s good to hear that they are actually getting back to people though because I was debating when to call it a PFO without hearing back (bc I’ve seen they ghost people??)! Hopefully also a good sign! This is testing my memory…I think it was also why SH & why law, but I was asked about...
I haven’t heard anything yet! Giving it until the end of this week to allow for delays and then I’m either gonna email again or assume PFO, depending on whether others have heard!
Yes I already have. She said we would hear by end of last week and I haven't heard of anyone hearing yet. As per the most frequent advice I see for not hearing back on time on here, I plan on emailing again towards the end of this week if we don't hear anything to allow for delays :)
Has anyone heard of anyone hearing from SH today about the spring VS? Trying to figure out if it's me or if they just didn't stick to the timeline for some reason & it'll be next week now!
The Student Lawyer is normally open to new writers! It's not a huge commitment (write as much or little as you want mostly) and it's certainly helped me with my writing
