Hi Bethany - I would make sure to include as many of the events that you attended as possible. You may be able to group them e.g. I have attended open days with... For my successful app last year I wrote in full prose as opposed to bullet points, but I kept it very factual with a brief sentence...
Definitely agree with what’s been said above - try and have the evening off prior to try and relax and get an early nights sleep. When we were able to travel into London for an interview I would try and do something the evening before to completely distract me like dinner or a film because I am...
I don't think this is true, when I had my HL AC I was right at the end so only got options of 2 dates but they had been doing other ACs beforehand which I wasn't invited to or given the option of. Also for W&C I had the choice of slots (bit different as they don't have multiple people on each AC...
I applied to the Spring VS on the 6th January 2020, got invited to VI on the 24th Jan and then invited to interview on the 7th Feb but I think that I heard back earlier because it was Spring
If this helps my cover letter for last years vacation scheme was over 1000 words  and still got invited to an assessment centre after my video interview! so although they are definitely looking for clear, concise writing, having a long cover letter won't be the end of the world!
I have had a written exercise before at a different firm that involved reading a few articles and then writing a client memo, and another similar one which involved a client issue and then a partner memo regarding the relevant law so definitely read up on how to structure these and the sorts of...
I was invited to assessment centre last cycle exactly a month after I submitted my WG. Although - they have just finished the Winter Vacation Scheme and many people would have had holiday that they needed to use up so they will probably be starting to look through summer now
Think a good answer to this is one that comes from experience (although it is hard enough to get that in this legal route, let alone one you don't actually want to work in!). Something that has always deterred me from being a barrister is that I have experience in customer/client facing roles...
Hi Bethany (great name!). I am a future trainee at the firm, and I found the WGT very similar to most others out there. I believe that Clifford Chance has a practice one on their site that you can use - @Jessica Booker has posted some good resources at various points around the TCLA forum (so...
Wanted to share that after completing a vacation scheme at Hogan Lovells last week, I have been offered a TC! Some of you may remember that I was initially offered a place on the summer scheme but was moved onto the Winter Scheme. After failing to convert the TC at another firm this summer, I...
I applied for Spring on Sunday (29th November). V late I know - I thought I could apply for summer and was aiming for that then realised last minute it had to be spring annoyingly
Once I re-read a cover letter I had sent in, and I had a typo and spelt a partner's name wrong. I was a mess. Got invited to interview though (at a top US firm). I think as hard as it is, once the application is gone it's gone. No point looking over it again until you get an interview!
