hi :) i think these could be promising answers. i take it that these are for addleshaw goddard’s application?
re: the biggest challenges question, the SQE could definitely be thought of as a challenge for the legal sector. if you can convincingly show what implications it has for law firms...
I’m sure others have more well-thought views on this, but I don’t think there’s any harm in lumping some together under one work experience entry. For instance, I often held several jobs during the summer. For one of my entries, I write down the main job I did at a bookstore and then in my...
Yep, there's no word limit. The TCLA W&C application guide says keep the word count between 750-800. But you're simply 6 words over. I don't think it's a massive red flag - so wouldn't worry too much. If you can find a way of cutting down some more words or even a sentence or two, could help...
First of all, I'm so sorry about not getting an offer. But I want to say something that a TCLA staff member once told me: in a sense, just by getting on a vac scheme, you've made huge progress towards getting a TC. Keep on doing your best and you'll get that TC soon enough :)
Second, while...
Hey! I just completed it a few weeks ago. Don’t worry at all - everyone’s very welcoming. If you’re running into any issues, definitely speak to your trainee-mentor (they’re all great). James Pritchard is also wonderful if anything is unclear from an admin standpoint. There really aren’t any...
I know people often say that when you mention a deal, it should be one that the London office has worked on. However I don’t believe this is a strict rule.
In my view, what matters is being able to articulate (1) what you think the deal says about the firm specifically and (2) how it speaks to...
From what I can tell, applications for vacation schemes are assessed on a rolling basis at W&C. However, direct training contract applications are reviewed on a non-rolling basis. Let me try to find the link for you.
Hi friend! So re: work experience, there doesn't seem to be any word count, but I wouldn't go over 250 words for each work experience you list in the section.
Regarding personal statement, make sure you answer the following 3 questions: (1) Why are you interested in a career in commercial law...
@lawnoob Yep, pretty much used up the 250 word count for each.
I also completely agree with @S87 on keeping things tidy with paragraphs!
✨✨✨✨ i'm all about marie kondo-ing my way to a TC✨✨✨✨✨
Nope, not due on the same day as one's application. The email they sent out said:
'The deadline for completing the assessment is three days after the application form deadline. If you require any adjustments to be made ahead of you taking this assessment, please contact the office you have...
Anyone apply to Addleshaw Goddard, Akin Gump, Fried Frank, Paul Hastings and hear back?
Applied largely in mid/late June, so just wondering when people hear back about WG tests, VIs, etc.
Yep, that’s right. TCLA has a good guide to writing the statement, but effectively you want your statement to address three questions: (1) why commercial law? (2) why Freshfields? And (3) why you would make a good fit for the firm?
Good luck, Asil!
!!!!!!!!!!!
i thought about you yesterday as i took my train from st pauls to greenwich! (I’d seen the words PRIVATE EQUITY on someone’s phone). so glad to see you back on here, friend!
