Hi @M1999
Might be best if I chip in here to explain. The point I make is about consistency. I often see candidates refer to the firm in the singular in one sentence and then in the plural in the next sentence.
It's easily done, but best to be consistent.
I hope that explains.
Paul
Hi @Kelly Bracken
It is always difficult for me to give you a yes or no answer to these queries. The application form covers much more than your grades - it's not as reductive as looking at one module grade.
You should have confidence though - you successfully applied for the open day. That...
Hi @R19 - I'm really pleased you'll be joining us on Wednesday.
There'll be no requirement for you to join via your webcam. It's more of a webinar format.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi @Samantha
Our grade requires are AAB at A-Level (or equivalent) and a min. 2.1 at university.
All applications that meet these criteria will be reviewed.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi @Matt_96
I think it's worth applying again. It can go either way if you have been interviewed previously, but as you've indicated, your first interview was a long time ago and you have developed since then.
Good luck!
Paul
Hi - yes absolutely. You should apply again if you feel your application is stronger.
Our next open day is on the 2nd December. Here is the link: https://ukgraduates.shearman.com/opportunities/open-day/
Thanks,
Paul
@Adam Gilchrist I don't believe we look at individual module grades differently than most law firms. A 2.2 in jurisprudence certainly wouldn't rule anyone out.
Just wanted to clear that up.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi @Chrislyn Pereira
To do the Vacation Scheme, you would need to have the right to work in the UK. We wouldn't be in a position to assist you with a VISA just for the 2-week vacation scheme.
I hope that explains.
Thanks,
Paul
Just to chip in here - there's also no need to tell a law firm how many offices it has, or when it was established. I see this regularly as the introduction to an open-text question.
Hi @keira
Thanks for the question.
There's no need to specify when you would like to start on your application. We work that out once we have made you a training contract offer.
We will have a few places for our training contract programme starting in August 2022, but most offers will be for...
Hi,
The International Arbitration Internship doesn't have a deadline - we recruit on an ad-hoc basis. It's different from our graduate recruitment positions.
Once an internship position is available we will review applications.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi @Lawgirl123
No rolling recruitment for Open Days. We tend to be able to review all applications in a few days following the deadline.
The event will be online this year too, so successful applicants won't have to arrange travel etc.
Thanks,
Paul
We've published a new blog today written by one of our excellent future trainees, Matthew.
The blog focuses on four online sources you can use to improve your training contract applications.
You can read it here...
Hi - thanks for the question.
The point of the application form questions is to understand what you think - there is no right or wrong answer.
Simply, do your research on the firm and the legal sector and tell us what you think.
Thanks,
Paul
