Firms will likely value what you show them you value.
These two weeks could be incredibly educational if you throw yourself into them- speak to every person that you're working with, even if it may be uncomfortable putting yourself our there at first. Try to understand who the firm's clients...
What's the firm's guidance on when you need to have completed the PGDL? This could also be mentioned in you offer letter.
If no minimum academic requirement for the PGDL has been mentioned, a pass should likely be fine, but I would confirm this with the firm.
Skills relate directly to your work- communication, organisation, teamwork etc.
Attributes directly relate to your nature/character/personality- creative, resilient, intuitive, sensitive etc.
Hi @erin1009, I would contact the firm about this when you've reached the stage where you've been offered an AC. I can understand if you're concerned about putting effort into an application only to be unable to attend an AC for it later on, but it may be possible to work with the firm to find a...
Wonderful wonderful news!!👏👏👏 Very happy for you both @sc29 and @lawcurious123! Thank you for being a part of TCLA so far and now that you have your TC, we'd love to continue being a part of journey through the Junior Lawyers' Community.
Wishing you the very best for the future! 😊
You could include both skills and attributes for sure but you are right in leaning more towards attributes. I'd think about what success means for a commercial lawyer and go from there. For example, if you achieve a client's goals for their deal/project/matter, then that reflects your success as...
Hi @toplawyer777 linking this resource by Izzet Hassan that I found incredibly useful while drafting covering letters when I was applying for TCs- I hope this helps you too!
I think it's a good idea to refresh your knowledge but I wouldn't fret about the specifics of any particular module. It's unlikely that you're going to have a developed, prepared answer for everything that comes up in an interview so the best approach is to try to think of one on the spot and if...
Welcome to TCLA @taysaliev22! It's great having you here. Please do continue posting here on the forums so that we can support you as you progress through your application journey. We're rooting for you! 💪💪💪
I'd focus on why A&O for the first part and pick 2-3 skills and qualities for the second part, dividing up the word count fairly equally between both. You'll have to be careful about answering the question super succinctly and making the best use of the word count!
Welcome to TCLA @JasmineM9! Well done on posting on the forum! I encourage you to post here in the future as well if you have doubts or questions about the application process. Wishing you the very best! 😊
If that is exactly the title you held, please feel free to include that in your application but do add a note if possible explaining that you are not qualified to practice in your home country.
They're essentially trying to understand whether your idea of success matches the firm's idea of success. For this question, I'd choose an example where you measured your success in achieving a goal by 1) prioritising your clients/ people you're serving 2) working together with your team in...
Generally speaking, unless it's specified, you could present your thoughts on a case study in any way as long as you 1) summarise your conclusion 2) walk the interviewers through your thought process 3) clearly identify the issues and possible solutions to them. Linking my post on ACs here that...
1)This is really good place to detail 2-3 skills or qualities you have gained that relate to those that a trainee should possess. I would avoid using STAR and instead list the skill/quality, detail how you developed it and how it's relevant to your role as a trainee.
2)This is indeed about your...
