TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2023-24

For sure! I think some shouldn’t give advice/present themselves as willing to. I realise Trainees are the best marketers. Great at selling to you they are open and available but in reality they aren’t. I don’t blame tho. I think if people want help it’s best to speak to recruiters and careers...

TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2023-24

Lol 4 1000% never works. I connected to a trainee at a firm I applied for this year. We met online and we got on fairly well. They bragged about how they assisted applicants in their pursuit for Vac Schemes. I thought hey why not ask if they’d like to read through what I wrote - they said no...

Okay great, thank you very much for the response! This is what I did in the first sections. I talked about its national dominance in the first paragraph but then said I liked to work for the firm because of its regional strengths in the 2nd paragraph and that I wanted to work in that said region...

Okay cool. That's kind of what I did. In the first bit, I mentioned that I wanted to work for the firm because of its regional dominance/impact and that it connects with my upbringing and the work experience I've done in the area. Essentially I want to work in that firm because I want to witness...

I was looking at a draft of my motivation for wanting to join a firm that I handed in a long time ago. (i'm not sure if it was the official one I handed in). I realised in my first paragraph I kinda bombed it. In it, I said that it was a regional firm when it's considered a national firm. I also...

Legal Experience is great, but I think too many people get by on weak legal experience - Like open days (god i'm still confused as to why it's considered valuable). I also think people are obsessed with it. Sure if it works for some, don't fix it. But I think you should really focus on what you...

I think this better than M&R results. They’re torturing me at the minute with the waiting time. I’m finishing a Browne Jacobson app which is essentially the same test.

Medium Verbal, High numerical - crazy because I’m dreadful at maths. Previously it’s been the other way around. 7477 - applied intellect is my weakness. Not a terrible showing. VIs weren’t fantastic.

Are amberjack test times recorded? Like I know they said it’s not but they said they’ll keep a track of response times to see if there’s cheating. Essentially I’m asking if I can do it in chunk. One section, break then the next section, etc. Will this f up my results?

They absolutely do! But my point has never been other firms have lower standards therefore you should apply. My point has been don’t just focus on the “best”. Especially if they have more offers. It’s a fallacy to think more offers = more chance because you’re missing the fact of more...

They do but the applications for it are well over 2,000. Its worth applying, but to only focus on these firms is silly in my opinion. Even if you have the IQ of tesla, or 28 A levels.

shhhhhh let them apply for the MCs and Big Law only! leave the rest for us:cool: i'm all for the advice but dang, if people wanna aim for a moon landing I ain't stopping them! I agree tho, I realised that If you want to go into Law it's not about forcing yourself into a space where the...

ITS AMBERJACK. FFS. Tbf i've not had a terrible outing with AJ, but I can't tell if I have been good with them or not. The results alone don't tell you if you're successful or not. I am still waiting for 2 responses from firms I took the Amberjack for, to hear if I'm successful or not

Same as this commentator - I only received the test recently. If you guys have any tips we could have a chat? I dunno what to expect. I've done SJTs for Pinsent, Mills and Reeve, Womble Bond, Linklaters and Irwin Mitchell so far with varying results.
