I personally emailed saying that I had an offer with a tight deadline but I was very interested in the firm and wanted a chance to convert my vacation scheme offer. I think that the key is stressing the fact that you have another offer but you are still very interested in the firm you are...
Congratulations on obtaining an assessment centre in the first place!
The best way to deal with situations like these is reach out to people who are future trainees at the firm who have recently gone through the process.
Every law firm does things very differently and the only way you have to...
I personally would not mention anything that you have not yet done just to be on the safe side.
It is better to mention these experiences once you do them as I am sure they will be points that your interviewers will raise and saying in the interview that you cannot talk about the experience...
If the recruiter confirmed this then I would say that you can apply with similar answers.
I will still try and make it a bit different where you can, for instance in the 'why the firm' section, you can focus on different aspects in both applications and that is already a significant difference...
Hi Temi,
Welcome to the forum! This is going to be a good source to start with your application journey!
As an international student myself, when I was applying to law firms this forum was absolutely essential to my successes and thanks to it I managed to get an offer in my first application...
@Jessica Booker is right in this, using bullet points on CV is widely accepted and way better to structure everything in a succinct and concise way.
The situation changes when it comes to law firm applications. Many in fact seems to prefer more written out descriptions of what you did and also...
I would stress how you are a very curious and inquisitive person and you are actually interested in more areas and sectors the firm works in such as xyz and dive deeper into those.
I think that in interviews there is a subtle way to diverge the conversation towards something you want to say and...
I would wait to get an actual offer before asking to be moved personally. Law firms are usually very understanding when it comes to situations like this so I would work hard to get the offer and then see what can be done to move you afterwards.
Ideally, if they are not able to move you to the...
I personally think that as you said it is enough to outline the context of the job, explain responsibilities and achievements, and then highlight the skills gained. The skills bit is what is supporting your application as you are supposedly highlighting another part of yourself.
It will certainly not hinder your chances but it is not in any way the only thing that will get you in in my opinion.
So my advice is, since the person confirmed that you can put down their names, I would do just that, but I would not rely on this and have confidence in your application and...
It really depends on the firm. I personally only did 1 hour assessment centres so I do not know what you might be expected to do.
What I would suggest is reaching out to people who are future trainees or trainees at the firm who have recently gone through the process and will be able to tell...
What I know is that they do not invite everyone that passes as majority of people do pass, but they take into consideration many factors as far as I am aware.
I would highlight 3 reasons why you are making that decision:
Is it because of the diverse clients the region has to offer?
Is it because of the practice area you are interested in which is well positioned in the region compared to others?
Is it because of the nature of the the deals and cases...
I shared some tips in this post some time ago and I think they can be helpful to you too: https://www.thecorporatelawacademy.com/forum/threads/tcla-vacation-scheme-applications-discussion-thread-2023-24.8037/post-151489
Good luck with the application!
