Have just spotted that a firm I applied to has postponed their ACs until autumn and it seems a number of firms are going this route.
As a career-changer I need to do the GDL but don’t plan to do so unless I have secured a TC (if I can’t get a TC then it’s a huge risk given I already have a good...
Have a virtual workshop with Lewis Silkin on Wednesday (was originally 3 days with some time spent sitting with a team but not yet sure of the format other than knowing there will be presentations and networking opportunities). There will be a chance to ask questions so planning to do some more...
Personally I’d say make it more general than the above but sure others will disagree. To compromise I’d say “there was a question on teamwork” is ok, though that sort of thing is easy enough to prepare for and discern anyway, it’s a pretty basic competency. I don’t think it’s that complicated...
Pretty sure it’s the 29th but I’d do it the day before to be sure.
Yes, potentially. I’ve missed out on a place on an AC by doing a VI too late.
As for principles in terms of sharing info.
I think the obvious line is sharing specific questions for recent interviews/VIs. Though firms may...
With all due respect, there are a lot of people who haven’t been through this process before. It isn’t difficult to google and find out the sorts of questions and format, plenty of people manage that just fine and then put a lot of effort into preparing. Plus I’ve given advice to people in...
I think it’s unethical in terms of fairness. A number of people have already done the interview, including me. I’ve offered help without specifically mentioning questions. Personally think word of mouth is better as most people will have no advantage.
I’ve figured out who the person is but...
Still think it’s pretty unethical and stupid, particularly as others have had to prepare without them and presumably they are still waiting for a response, so they’re sabotaging everyone who did it without, including themselves.
Should this sort of thing be flagged or would it be looked at upon...
I had different questions, which is a surprise. Not sure how good an idea it is posting them though. Might be being paranoid but not sure grad rec would be keen on it?
A big assumption but I’d imagine the sorts of firms that can afford to pay an airfare for ACs/do so will be the sorts of firms where the hours are on the upper end of the scale. I think it’s pretty generous for any firm to pay the airfare.
I ran out of time on 2 questions while rounding up if that helps. Had made my points and was just summarising so hoping it’ll be ok. Not heard back yet though.
I can empathise.
Am in a similar boat as a career changer. Have quite a bit of work on but as I’m in lockdown with family am surrounded by kids and lacking the privacy to both work efficiently and do applications, as my productive time is limited to evenings. Ordinarily I’d go to a coffee shop...
Hey,
Questions were fairly straightforward, no surprises.
I can’t remember all of them but most of them were competency based, with the token commercial one.
Thanks for this, super helpful.
Any tips for preparing for video interviews where you’re recording answers? In particular preparing/structuring an answer quickly (typically only have 30 seconds to a minute to compose yourself).
Thanks!
It took over a week to get an invite to the WG and following the test I got an invite to VI within half a day. If that helps...
I’m also aware of people that didn’t get an invite. Naturally you’ll hear more about people that did.
Agree with the above. I found I was ok with them without buying any, just used free ones.
I have come across PFOs and people who haven’t been invited to WG that applied before I did. It’s tolling though so I’d do it sooner rather than later.
