Hi, with NRF, the cover letter is the key thing they use to progress candidates and it’s also used in the VS/TC interviews by the partners to help guide their questions. I think it’s valuable to grad rec and the partners to see your clear motivations to go into corporate law. I wouldn’t say it...
I hope I’m not too late! I was asked a mix of why law, why the firm, a teamwork question and a commercial question on a news story that related to one of the firms practice areas. It was with grad rec and only lasted 15 mins. It was really chill and as long as you have answers for those things...
I agree with Jess re the term influencing. I'd also say that Mishcon does a lot of unique work and had worked on some huge cases including the Gina Miller Prorogation of Parliament and the BBC Equal Pay case for Carrie Gracie so it can be said that they've done a lot of societally impactful work :)
I’m 25, had worked in the civil service for 2 years and did a vac scheme in spring which resulted in my TC. As long as you feel comfortable enough taking the time off for a vac scheme definitely do it as firms are not put off by age/experience. A vac scheme is a great way for anyone to learn...
I wouldn't get too stressed, they likely send them out in batches. I got mine quite early on for the spring scheme and others got them a week or so later!
I work for the Civil Service and luckily had a really open and supportive team so they all knew from the start that I was applying for vac schemes/TCs. I took off a lot of time to do events, schemes and interviews but because my employers knew this I got some extra time off to relax. I made sure...
Sorry if this is too late but if this is for NRF, I mentioned their global reach e.g. the span of continents the firm has offices in and then spoke about a deal involving the London office and international offices then tied it to my academic background in Global History and my non-UK heritage :)
Hey I did the video interview with BCLP. It lasted 18 minutes with 2 grad rec people asking questions. They were based on both competencies like teamwork and why BCLP/why law, they also asked questions tjay were similar to the situational questions they used in the written application like how...
Congrats on getting 3 VS for the summer! Clearly they’ve seen that you have the skills and knowledge (and potential) to get a training contract and further demonstrate that at a VS, so in all honesty I wouldn’t worry very much about being underprepared. Secondly, there are likely going to be...
I was having a look at Lex 100's survey results (among others). I know there there isn't really an answer to this but how seriously should applicants take the results of things like trainee surveys?
