    Ask A Graduate Recruiter Anything!

Hi Numerius, I’m of course not Jessica but I just want to add a few things based on my experience with similar concerns. I would say that having political experience is a pro, not a con. I know several lawyers who were previously in the political space, and I know of many politicians who were...

    Ask A Graduate Recruiter Anything!

Hi Jessica, I’ve been told that I have a commercial article interview to prepare for. It’s expected to last 25 minutes. It doesn’t look like I’ll receive the article in advance. Do you have any idea how the structure of the interview could go? I think it could be something like five minutes...

TCLA General Discussion Thread #2 (2021)

I think it’s always better with those situational tasks to be realistic with what you would actually do in person, not what you think the recruiter wants you to do/be. If it were me, I’d be thinking if the firm prides itself on its culture or work life balance. With that in mind, they’d likely...

TCLA General Discussion Thread #2 (2021)

Does anyone have any tips for handling the time constraints on one way video interviews? I have a tendency to rush through my answer because of the fear of being cut off! I have 2.5 minutes to answer, which is more than others I have seen, but when practising I still run close to the time...

Have you considered looking at in-house paralegal roles? You may find greater autonomy there, if you still have an interest in commercial law at all

Is anyone else with the HK VI working full-time at the moment as well? I’m debating asking for some time off in the morning. Can’t say this turnaround is the most accommodating to graduates, despite being a 2022 start date

Remember you’ve done your prep and got to this stage - that’s the hardest part. You’ve proven you’re good enough by reaching this stage, now it’s just a case of showing them that. The best way to do that is to be yourself!

2020-21 Direct Training Contract Applications Discussion

@Jaysen has there recently been a newsletter or post about striving too much to be the ‘perfect’ candidate vs being yourself? I feel I’ve seen something from TCLA recently on the topic but I can’t find it - I could do with the reminder on the topic myself!
