I thought that legislation such as Basel II and Basel III did address some of the issues fairly significantly? E.g. with the minimum amount of capital that banks now have to hold?
Equally, hasn't there been a massive reduction in the size of bonuses that are available to bankers? I thought...
Completely agree - there's something about physically signing and acknowledging that you've sorted the next few years of your career that's really gratifying isn't there :)
Absolutely thrilled for you and just in time for big celebrations on the bank holiday weekend! Really hope you're able to make the most of celebrating with your friends and family as you've more than earned it :D
Massive well done again! 🎉 👏 🍾🥂
I think that's pretty much spot on and was pretty much exactly what a Gibson Dunn partner said when he explained the rise of US firms at the firm's open day :)
Totally agree! For 'deep focus' they're fantastic - the Inception and Dark Knight soundtracks are some of my goto playlists as are Einaudi and Yiruma :)
Same here with law reading! Need bit of house music (even some EDM occasionally if I'm really struggling) to get me through some very dry leasehold covenants in Land for example :)
Absolutely the right approach and tbh why on earth wouldn't you? Ultimately, you have to do absolutely what is right for you and what will benefit your career (sadly other people won't do it for you if you won't) so definitely look to make those connections and see where it takes you!
Totally...
I did see that - good to see their CV blind recruitment policy is working well!

That's the same one! Not sure why it hasn't been active since then but a few podcasts before that he does a deep dive into Apple vs Epic games and it's a really interesting listen
Just to caveat these experiences with my own on an in-person vac scheme - we were all effectively 'forced' out the door at 6pm to go home haha so I do think the fact people are working from home and that blurring of the 2 lines has meant that people are working crazier hours than ever before...
Yes you're thinking of Epic Games (the people behind the very popular game Fortnite) in its antitrust dispute with Apple! A really interesting case on so many levels that is covered in a lot of detail on 'The Commercial Awareness Podcast' which I'd encourage you to give a listen if you haven't...
Huge congrats that's wonderful news :D which firm if you don't mind me asking? Make sure you celebrate in the sunshine with a nice beverage this weekend - you've more than earned it 🎉 🍻
I'm not sure it would because I don't think a BA is usually a qualifying law degree whereas the LLB is? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that's what my LLB mates have said in the past - @Jessica Booker could you confirm?
I think it means that fans have 50% of the shares + 1 share i.e. the tiniest majority to give them the controlling stake and the necessary voting rights
