I think Chambers Student and RollOnFriday are two underrated sources that go a long way at not only describing firm's practice but the trainee experience at each law firm. However, I think there are limits to what you can research. Not every major deal a law firm makes is on headlines and I've...
PFO Mills and Reeve.
Another dehumanising experience. If I ever get a TC, I will never be loyal to any of these firms or forget how I was treated throughout this whole process.
Do internships even matter? They are worse than Vacation schemes!
Even if you get a competitive internship with a firm, you don't get considered for a training contract or any advantage when applying versus thousands of other applicants. It's an absolute joke. I know cause I completed one for...
Oxon should give you a leg up, consider applying for US firms. I also have a low 2.1(RG) but a low 2.1 from Oxford is probably worth more.
It's a rigged game, you just have to learn how to play it. I actually abhor the whole recruitment process but this is what firms are forced to do as...
You run out of patience and hope after receiving so many rejections. You start to wonder whether your law degree is worth anything.
I can't even secure paralegal work as a temporary job, so I'm considering a career change at this point. Horrifically bad market right now.
The partner interview is discrimination and the best way to get an offer is to have a partner like you.
It becomes a lottery based on who your interviewer is and how they perceive you. There is nothing fair or objective about it.
The legal recruitment process is excruciatingly bad. I’ve also yet to secure an offer after 4 assessment centres with different firms the last 2 years.
There’s just too much bias involved in interviews that people are rejected because they weren’t ‘liked’. They shouldn’t allow partners or...
Here's the thing I've already screwed up assessment centres with Freshfields and Hogan Lovells so I'm not so confident here. I need to get polished like the other candidates by getting interview prep otherwise nothing changes.😅
It seems odd to ask for a TC so I'll just have to see how it goes and hope that they do. It was pretty competitive(only 2 places) and I was interviewed but it would be different from their formal recruitment process with an AC or an online test.
